About Our Company
AjiPure® is a registered trademark of Ajinomoto North America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ajinomoto Co., Inc.
Our Raleigh, North Carolina plant has been in operation since 1982 and continues to be the leading pharmaceutical L-amino acid
manufacturer in the United States.
Founded in 1909, Ajinomoto, Co., Inc. was one of the first companies in Japan to conduct extensive research on the
various properties of amino acids. In the 1950s, this emphasis on amino research culminated in our entry into the pharmaceutical
industry. The company’s development of essential amino acids led to the world's first use of intravenous
amino acid therapy in hospitals in 1956.
More than 100 years since our founding, Ajinomoto, Co. continues to lead the industry in production technology,
global supply and nutrition research for amino acids. We pride ourselves on assisting customers from every walk of life—from
world champion athletes looking for a powerful, nutritious boost to medical staff looking to enhance a patient's quality of
life to health-conscious individuals looking to improve their overall health and well-being.
Throughout the years, our commitment to amino acid research has grown stronger. We know amino acids play a wide variety of
critical roles in the biochemistry of all life on our planet, and we understand that there is much that is not yet fully understood.
Through ongoing research into the role of amino acids, we work hard to discover new ways to help people who are concerned about
their health. This is why, in addition to employing 30,000 of the brightest people in 23 countries,
Ajinomoto Co. has been working in collaboration with universities and public and private organizations to further
contribute to human health through the use of amino acids.
The Ajinomoto Group is committed to working as a responsible member of the local and international communities.
We strive to create better lives globally by contributing to significant advances in food and health and by working for life.
In the United States and around the world, Ajinomoto Group companies contribute to local environmental and social causes.
Our conservation efforts help to create a cleaner environment; facilities participate in the Adopt-A-Stream program to clean up
our waterways, and our methane gas reclaiming efforts use landfill gases to power our manufacturing processes. Each winter,
our Mottainai! Campaign collects and donates warm clothing to those less fortunate, and our research into
nutritional supplementation is helping to reduce hunger on a global scale.
